Hemkund Sahib

Hemkund Sahib is one of the highest Gurudwaras in the world, situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand near the Valley of Flowers. This sacred Sikh pilgrimage site is dedicated to the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and is mentioned in the Dasam Granth. The Gurudwara is located beside the glacial Hemkund Lake, whose name means ‘Lake of Snow’. Surrounded by snow-covered Himalayan peaks, Hemkund Sahib offers a spiritually uplifting and scenic experience to pilgrims and trekkers alike. A small Lakshman Temple dedicated to Lakshman, the brother of Lord Rama, is also situated near the lake. The journey to Hemkund Sahib begins from the picturesque village of Ghangaria, which serves as the base camp for treks to both Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. Ghangaria is known for its scenic beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and homestay accommodations.
