Bhavishya Kedar

Bhavishya Kedar is a sacred temple located near Jyotirmath in Joshimath, Uttarakhand, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This spiritually significant temple is deeply associated with Hindu mythology and future prophecies connected to Kedarnath and Badrinath. As the name suggests, Bhavishya Kedar is believed to be the future abode of Lord Kedarnath. According to ancient legends and local beliefs, at the end of Kalyug a devastating natural calamity or landslide will block the route to the present Kedarnath and Badrinath temples. It is believed that after this event, the seat of Lord Badrivishal will shift to Bhavishya Badri, while Lord Kedarnath will be worshipped at Bhavishya Kedar. This prophecy makes Bhavishya Kedar an important spiritual destination for devotees visiting Joshimath and nearby pilgrimage sites. The temple houses a sacred Shivling along with an idol of Goddess Parvati, symbolizing the divine presence of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Surrounded by peaceful Himalayan landscapes, dense forests, and tranquil mountain surroundings, Bhavishya Kedar offers a calm and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Pilgrims and spiritual seekers visit this sacred site to experience its mythological importance, natural beauty, and peaceful ambiance. The temple is also closely connected with the spiritual traditions of Jyotirmath established by Adi Shankaracharya. Bhavishya Kedar remains one of the lesser-known yet highly revered pilgrimage destinations in the Garhwal Himalayas.
